XI. Presto

Hisi’s reindeer follows Lemminkäinen to kill him.
The two fight long and forcefully. The reindeer’s flight after the hero ends in the animal being bound and locked up.The sound of the flight is rendered through the very rapid tempo, very brief notes and accents placed on the weak beats, and the presence of the percussion instruments.

Elanul lui Hiisi, îl urmăreşte pe Lemminkäinen pentru a-l ucide. Înfruntarea dintre cei doi este puternică şi de lungă durată. Goana elanului după erou se încheie prin legarea dibace a animalului şi închiderea într-un ţarc. Senzaţia auditivă a goanei este redată muzical de tempo-ul foarte rapid, valorile de note foarte scurte şi accentele amplasate deasupra timpilor slabi, prezenţa instrumentelor de percuţie.

"Nyt sie juokse, hiitten hirvi,
jalkoa, jalo tevana,
poron poikimasijoille,
Lapin lasten tenterille!
Hiinhätä hikehen miestä,
Lemminkäistä liiatenki!“
Liukui linnat, liukui lannat,
liukui maat meren-takaiset;
hiihti kaikki Hiien korvet,
kaikki Kalman kankahatki,
hiihti Surman suun e'etse,
Kalman kartanon perätse.
Surma jo suutansa avavi,
Kalma päätä kallistavi
Otti vaajan vaahterisen,
raksin koivuisen rapasi,
jolla kyki hiitten hirven
tarhan tammisen sisähvn:
"Siinä seiso, hiitten hirvi,
poropeura, poimettele!“

Flee away, thou Hisi-reindeer,
Like the winds, thou rapid courser,
To the snow-homes of the ranger,
To the ridges of the mountains,
To the snow-capped hills of Lapland,
That thy hunter may be worn out,
Thy pursuer be tormented,
Lemminkainen be exhausted."
Glided over lakes and rivers,
Over lands beyond the smooth-sea,
Through the desert plains of Hisi,
Glided o'er the plains of Kalma,
Through the kingdom of Tuoni,
To the end of Kalma's empire,
Where the jaws of Death stand open,
Where the head of Kalma lowers,
Ready to devour the stranger,
To devour wild Lemminkainen;
But Tuoni cannot reach him,
Kalma cannot overtake him.

“Fugi, elane al lui Hiisi,
nobil animal, te-ndreaptă
înspre locurile unde
vin la-mperechere renii,
spre-ai Laponiei fii aspri,
fă s-asude toţi părtaşii,
cel mai mult, pe Lemminkäinen.“
Munţi şi văi cutreierat-a,
pe tărâmuri peste mare,
a gonit pe-ntinşii codri
ai lui Hiisi şi prin toate
bărăganele lui Kalma;
o întinse-n gura morţii,
lângă a lui Kalma casă;
îşi căscă chiar moartea gura,
îşi pleca chiar Kalma capul,
ca să-l prindă pe viteazul
Lemminkäinen, să-l sfâşie.
Nu-şi atinse însă ţinta.
Îşi alese-un stâlp de gladis,
rupt-a vargă de mesteacăn,
pe-al lui Hiisi-elan legat-a,
în ocol făcut cu totul
din stejar; îi spuse aste:
“Tu, elane al lui Hiisi,
stai acolo, te-odihneşte.“

Hadd izzadjon aki hajszol,
hadd lihegjen Lemminkejnen!”

Csúszik dombon, siklik dűlőn,
Tengeren túli síkságon,
Hiszi roppant rengetegén,
Halál hideg hómezején,
Pokol szája előtt száguld,
Halál hajléka mögött hajt,
Pokol már a torkát tátja,
Halál már fejét fordítja.
...
Felkap egy fenyőcöreket,
Fűzfagalyból font kötelet,
Lenyűgözi Hisz szarvasát,
Tölgyfa karánba keríti:
“Maradj meg itt Hisz szarvasa
karikázz kényed kedvedre!”
“Maradj meg itt Hisz szarvasa!”
